Mayer in their article \u00a0\u201cEmotional Intelligence\u201d, where they define it as the ability to feel, evaluate and express an emotion, the ability to access feelings and\/or create them when they facilitate thoughts, the ability to understand emotions and emotional knowledge, and to <strong>regulate emotions to promote emotional and intellectual growth<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.it\/dp\/055384007X?tag=neocogita-21&amp;camp=3458&amp;creative=23838&amp;linkCode=as1&amp;creativeASIN=055384007X&amp;adid=0XEZ3N2QFJ2KQ4XESC77&amp;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-7440 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/neocogita.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/51RUQgMmgL._SX298_BO1204203200_-180x300.jpg\" alt=\"51ruqgmmgl-_sx298_bo1204203200_\" width=\"180\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/neocogita.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/51RUQgMmgL._SX298_BO1204203200_-180x300.jpg 180w, https:\/\/neocogita.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/51RUQgMmgL._SX298_BO1204203200_.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nPsychologist and writer \u00a0Daniel Goleman analyzed the topic further in his book \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.it\/dp\/055384007X?tag=neocogita-21&amp;camp=3458&amp;creative=23838&amp;linkCode=as1&amp;creativeASIN=055384007X&amp;adid=0XEZ3N2QFJ2KQ4XESC77&amp;\">Emotional Intelligence<\/a>\u201d, where he identifies 4 main aspects of emotional intelligence: self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, and relationship management.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Goleman investigate competence models used in 100 different companies in order to observe the role and the importance of emotions in work performance. Results of his research showed that for jobs of any kind and at any level, factors belonging to emotional intelligence were\u00a0extremely more important than mere cognitive skills. The higher the level inside the company, the more they are important.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>What does this mean? Developing these competences\u00a0may help you become\u00a0a better leader, that adapts more easily, manages conflicts better, and has more success.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>How can we develop emotional intelligence?<\/h3>\n<p><strong>Mindfulness meditation<\/strong> is a very powerful tool to develop competences related to emotional intelligence, especially self-awareness.<\/p>\n<p>Many studies showed that regular meditators benefit from many advantages\u00a0in their daily life, as well as in the workplace. First of all, in fact, meditation\u00a0<strong>increases attention<\/strong> while decreases distractions and office chatting. Employees also\u00a0experience a reduction in physical tension caused by muscular tension, fast lunch breaks or inactivity.
